UCAN approached us to design a programme that would create new opportunities for their community of young people. In particular they were keen to build on the work that they had started to develop around digital and professional skills within the arts. We identified areas of development that would not only help UCAN to develop as an organisation but also strengthen ties with its community of young people. We wanted to create a programme that would instil confidence and a sense of ownership and belief that could produce industry standard work.

We designed a programme structured as a series of masterclasses hosted by leading industry professionals that included AnagramOdette ToiletteMathilde LopezSplash & Ripple and ourselves.  The masterclasses offered a unique insight into how practitioners from different disciples approached the creative process and unpicked the pathway to becoming a producer; how to take a concept through to delivery with all the bits in between. From new digital practices to theatre in unusual spaces, UCAN Create offered young people new ways of thinking creatively about how to confidently produce their own unique work.

In response to these masterclasses we helped the participants create their own piece of work. They created a multi sensory installation called 1ft2 that they toured to their Annual Festival at the Wales Millennium Centre, Rawfest at the Newport Riverfront and Does That Include Us Festival at G39 in Cardiff.
