A workshop exploring new ways of discovering and telling an organisation’s story. Through a mixture of narrative exercises and serious play we developed Y Lab’s skills in articulating their story to audiences and stakeholders.

We worked with Y Lab, the Public Services Innovation Lab for Wales, a partnership between Cardiff University, a Russell Group University, and Nesta, the UK’s innovation foundation. They wanted us to help them find new ways to tell their story and bring a consensus within the organisation.

We designed a workshop that was split into two parts. Firstly we explored what had gone before and what was hoped for the future to begin to understand how Y Lab could thread the story of their work together. As well as looking at the broad group of users for the brand story.

The second part of the workshop then explored playful ways to tell their story which comprised playful exercises which explored their ‘voice’. We then helped the team to build a story based on their past experience ready for in the future. Looking specifically at key values and characteristics to help them refine how they could articulate they core story clearly to others.

Thank you so much for such a great workshop - I think it really helped us to understand each other better, and our motivations for doing what we do
