Connected Stories Course
Connected Stories was a three day workshop that was an opportunity for individuals from different disciplines and methodologies to come together to learn, develop and explore the narrative possibilities within multi-platform storytelling.
The Connected Stories Course was funded by Creative Skillset and UKCES and was produced and supported by yello brick, Hoffi, thinkARK, Cyfle, PlayThisNext and Winged Monkeys.
The course offered 20 individuals the opportunity to participate and was attended by a mix of creatives including writers, game designers, producers, technologists, directors who were interested in working creatively with storytelling and working collaboratively with others from different disciplines.
During the three days the participants were taken through a process that opened discussion on transmedia. From sessions that explored and analysed successful case studies to examples of best practice and lessons learned from leading industry professionals including Kim Plowright, Alison Norrington, Peter Cowley, Emma Foster, Ben Grass.
In addition participants worked in small groups to creatively explore, develop and produce a connected stories concept in response to specific brief. At the end of the three days the groups had the opportunity to share their ideas and gain feedback from the course producers and industry experts in a unique creative workshop session.
This short course was intended as an introduction to the world of transmedia and focused on the idea of knowledge exchange, open experimentation and collaboration between practitioners of different media. The programme offered important opportunities to connect with others from different work practices to form the beginnings of new and exciting networks.
