Brecon Story
Celebrating Brecon’s Heritage, Culture and Arts through the sharing of stories.
Working in collaboration with Brecon Heritage & Culture Network and Hoffi, Brecon Story is a project that celebrates and shares the town’s unique heritage, culture and arts. The project centres around storytelling with the aim of engaging local residents in sharing their stories. These stories not only connect people and place but reveal the town’s rich texture and hidden narratives told from the perspective of the people that live there. These stories are available via the Brecon Story online portal and can be explored and enjoyed by anyone. promoting its heritage and culture digitally
We worked with a wide range of stakeholders to explore the unique stories of Brecon and to understand how we might be able to empower the local community to become content producers for the project moving into the future.
During the project we met with a number of residents of Brecon to talk to them about their experience of the town. From these discussions we created over twenty five unique audio stories as well as producing three featured videos designed to share the uniqueness of Brecon town and its vibrant cultural offer.
These stories are available on the Brecon Story portal and have been shared through associated social media channels.
Workshops
As well as running storytelling workshops in the town to collect stories about Brecon from the people who lived there, we ran a number of workshops that focused on digital up-skilling. A big part of the project was to empower the local residents to continue the legacy of the project and take control of the Brecon Story portal. We delivered workshops that ensured the residents had the skills to confidently allow them to take ownership of the project.
