Cold Case

A playful multi platform project resource for Wales Millennium Centre’s Creative Learning Engagement

IMG_0330.jpg

Wales Millennium Centre wanted to create an educational resource that could be used with their schools audiences that engaged critical thinking and examined unconscious bias. They wanted to created something that would playfully engage young people and encourage discussion around key topics

We worked with the Creative Learning Team to explore what this might be, researching existing resources and potential formats for the delivery of the project, examining web based and digital experiences right through to facilitated workshops.

In response to the brief we created Cold Case, a tabletop ‘who dunnit’ game where the audience or the participants become the detective. Participants listen to police interviews, scour the evidence and see what has been missed. Players receive the case files from Mabli Quinn, a Private Investigator trying to solve the mysterious death of 90’s film star Cherry Gadwell. By listening to police tapes and reviewing the evidence, Mabli guides players through the evidence for participants to solve the mystery and reveal who the killer was. As well as discovering some uncomfortable truths along the way.

By examining their needs for the project we created a resource which had a both downloadable digital version for schools and a physical version for the Creative Learning Team to run workshops.

Cold Case was a collaboration with Wales Millennium Centre’s Creative Learning Department. This collaboration started as a consultation and developed into the commissioning of this experience and our creative disruption workshops.
